St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent De Paul is so much more than a thrift store where you can drop off things that you don’t want anymore or where you can pick up inexpensive used items. The thrift store supports many programs that help people in our local community.

A few examples of the type of programs that St. Vincent De Paul provides:

• Education about poverty.

• Teaching life skills to help people out of poverty.

• Offering scholarships to help people get the training they need to enter the work force.

• Helping people get back into community life after incarceration.

• Providing direct services to help people with housing costs, clothing needs, basic necessities and transportation.

St. Vincent de Paul offers clothing, furniture, rental assistance, scholarships, and programs to help build a more sustainable future for our struggling neighbors.

The Mission of our St. Bernard’s Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is to serve our neighbor in need within our parish boundaries. The mission stems from the 1850’s by Blessed Frederic Ozanam in Paris, France, following in the footsteps of Blessed Roselie Rendu. They visited the poorest of the poor offering food, and clothing, assisting them in their most basic of needs. St. Vincent de Paul continued this tradition of going into the home with two Vincentians in Christ-like compassion to discern the needs of our neighbors.
